Shoreham airfield provides the perfect backdrop to take to the skies. Shoreham is the country’s longest public-servicing airfield, first opening its runways in 1910, and has served flying enthusiasts ever since. The airfield retains the ambiance of a more leisurely era of air travel, with its fine art décor control tower and friendly atmosphere.

You’ll be spoilt for choice with the option to fly in either a Tiger Moth or a Stampe. Both are timeless masterpieces and are very similar, but with one major difference - A Stampe has a tailwheel, whereas the Tiger Moth has a tail slide, which means it can only land on dry grass. The Stampe tailwheel allows the plane to land on a variety of terrains and can therefore, be operational all year round.

The experience includes a pre-flight briefing and an introductory lesson to the aircraft’s controls. Then, it’s time to put on your pilot’s hat as you conduct the external and internal pre-flight checks, ready for your big flight. A fully qualified and experienced pilot will handle both the take-off and landing of the aircraft. Once you are airborne, it is time for you to take the controls and steer your stunning plane of choice yourself.

Remember to have your camera at the ready as there are plenty opportunities to pose alongside the aircraft once you’re back on the ground again.
